When studying the RSS feeds in the morning it is difficult to ignore: the aquisition of Parakey made a lot of noise in the blogosphere. After the opening of Facebook for external web applications the purchase of a WebOS is natural a clear signal for the fact that Facebook sets to conquer the desktop.

TechCrunch compares the present development of Facebook with Microsofts triumphant advances into the 90ern and their success with opening Windows for external developers.

READ/WriteWeb shows us meanwhile the best Apps available in Facebook. No desires left unfulfilled.

In a further article READ/Write compares Zuckerbergs statement for the introduction of F8 with the presentation of the Apple Macintosh and supports that directly with a video proof.

However: Is Facebook the new Google/Apple/Microsoft? I think that is possible and Facebook has created at least the best initial conditions for itself, in order to strike all other serious applicants from the field. And: Sooner or later ONE Social network will become generally accepted in the measure, as Google is for websearch.

Beim morgendlichen Studieren der RSS-Feeds ist es nur schwer zu übersehen. Die Aquisition von Parakey hat das Buzz-Faß nun endgültig zum Überlaufen gebracht und es brodelt gewaltig in der Blogosphere. Nach der Öffnung von Facebook für externe Webapplikationen ist der Einkauf eines WebOS natürlich ein deutliches Signal dafür, dass Facebook dazu ansetzt, den Desktop zu erobern.

TechCrunch vergleicht die derzeitige Entwicklung von Facebook mit Microsofts Siegeszug in den 90ern und führt auch den Erfolg von Windows auf die Öffnung des Systems für externe Entwickler zurück.

Read/WriteWeb zeigt uns derweil die besten Apps, die bereits für Facebook verfügbar sind. Wenn man sich hier umschaut, bleiben kaum noch Wünsche offen.

Ist aber Facebook, das neue Google/Apple/Microsoft? Ich halte das für möglich und meine, dass Facebook derzeit zumindest die besten Ausgangsbedingungen für sich geschaffen hat, um alle anderen ernsthaften Bewerber aus dem Feld zu schlagen. Und klar ist auch: mittelfristig wird ein Social Network sich durchsetzen in dem Maße, wie es Google für das Thema Websuche geschafft hat.
